Briefing

Orangeburg Pipe Inspection explained.

Orangeburg pipe was a cheap, lightweight sewer pipe made from wood pulp and pitch, popular from the 1940s into the 1970s. It softens, flakes and ovalizes over time, and it can collapse under soil load.

If your house is from that era and the line has never been checked, a camera is the only way to know. We look for deformation, delamination, sags and collapse, and we tell you honestly how much life the pipe likely has.

Questions

Orangeburg Pipe FAQ.

Is every Orangeburg line failing?

No, but it is the least durable common sewer pipe, so a camera check is wise.

Can Orangeburg be relined?

Sometimes, if the pipe is still round enough. The footage shows whether a trenchless repair is realistic.

Will the camera hurt it?

We use cameras and techniques suited to fragile pipe and we stop if the pipe cannot safely be passed.
